Every one of Virginia's 133 counties and independent cities, hand-lettered one by one into the shape of Old Dominion.

Each PlaceMaps print starts as a hand-built Illustrator file: every name is rotated, stretched and fitted letter by letter until the words become the map. Look closely and you'll find Fairfax, Arlington, Albemarle and every other county and independent city.
